Sulfonation
Typically SO3 is reacted with aromatic hydrocarbon for the sulfonation process. The SO3 in the feed will often combine with moisture in the air creating acid that causes safety and corrosion problems. In addition, acid mist in the SO3 feed will cause a hazy appearance in the final product.
Before reaction
FLEXIFIBER® mist eliminators can protect your product quality by removing contaminants in the SO3 stream prior to reaction.
 
After reaction
FLEXIFIBER® mist eliminators also remove acid mist after the reactor to eliminate discharge of acid to the atmosphere.
