Amine solutions are used to remove acidic components, such as H2S and CO2, from process gases. Optimized selection of mist elimination equipment can minimize both expensive solvent loss and the introduction and buildup of hydrocarbon contaminants.

Mass transfer equipment

A series of distillation steps is used to recover ethanol from the raw ethanol product that is produced either synthetically from fossil fuels or by the fermentation of renewable agricultural products. Selection of trays and packing for the towers used in the various steps is discussed.
