Koch-Glitsch Equipment
Koch-Glitsch has proprietary heat transfer modeling capability for the design or upgrading of your Quench towers. Our mass transfer technology can be optimized to meet the requirements of your column. Many Quench towers have been upgraded from trays to packing for an increased overhead cracked gas throughput. The upgrade to packing will also significantly lower the pressure drop. Our trays or internals can be designed to maintain performance even in fouling prone environments.

FAQ
Q: Are trayed Ethylene Water Quench columns revamped using random or structured packing?
A: Yes, the benefits of the packed designs include 30% or more additional capacity, improved heat transfer, and reduced pressure drop. Refer to the included success story.

Q: How can the pressure drop through an Ethylene Water Quench column be minimized?
A: By replacing the existing trays with structured packing. The broad diversity of packing and internals available allows for designs to be tailored to the characteristic operating requirements for each section of the ethylene quench tower.
