A: Koch-Glitsch has targeted the following three major areas for enhancing the performance of conventional trays: Active Area Enhancements Advanced Downcomer Technology Inlet Area Enhancements Q: What type of Capacity Increase is possible with the High Capacity trays? A: Koch-Glitsch offers a wide variety of high capacity trays and they each have their own areas of applicability. It is relatively easy to see increases of 15% to 25% with the SUPERFRAC^Ž Trays. Even higher capacity increases are not uncommon. The ULTRA-FRAC^Ž trays have been demonstrated to increase the capacity of some columns by more than 50%. However, we have regularly seen tray efficiencies at 95% in propane/propylene splitters.
