Spacing for mist eliminators in vertical vessels

Despite being an important element in many process applications, mist elimination equipment is often an afterthought in the process of designing a vessel.
Because of this, both mesh and vane-type mist eliminators are frequently positioned in a way that reduces their effectiveness.

Use of reboiler baffles

A preferential reboiler baffle is often used below the bottom tray to direct the liquid from the bottom tray to the reboiler.

Liquid drawoff

Generally, drawing liquid from the active area of a tray is a bad design practice, because the liquid in that area can be very aerated/frothy and difficult to draw.  In addition, most draw nozzle sizing charts are based on clear liquid.
