Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Wichita, Dallas, Houston
Koch-Glitsch, LP gets 3 Stars!

Employees at Koch-Glitsch LP’s Wichita, Dallas, and Houston sites have achieved Star status in OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) for “sustained excellence in all areas of your [Koch-Glitsch’s] safety and health management system.”

Wichita received its certification in 2004 (recertified in 2007), followed by Dallas in 2006, and Houston in 2008. A sister company, Koch Specialty Plant Services, Inc., is the first specialty contractor in its industry to achieve OSHA VPP Star Mobile Workforce status in June 2008.

OSHA’s goal, through VPP, is to partner with management and labor for a safer and healthier work environment. VPP recognizes companies that have implemented comprehensive and effective safety and health programs that provide workplace safety and health that goes beyond OSHA’s standard requirements. Participants’ illness and injury rates must be below the industry average for at least three years to qualify for Star status.

The average VPP worksite has a lost workday incidence rate 52% below the average for its industry. Koch-Glitsch, LP’s average injury rate is 91% below the national average for its industry.

Before being awarded VPP status, each facility was rigorously evaluated according to the four elements of VPP, a comprehensive set of qualifications that include:
  • Management leadership and employee involvement
  • Worksite analysis
  • Hazard prevention and control
  • Safety and health training

In awarding Star certification to Koch-Glitsch, OSHA acknowledged the outstanding effort and commitment that KGLP’s management and employees have made in the protection of the health and safety of its employees.

Following its 2007 Recertification audit, Koch-Glitsch, LP - Wichita and its employees were recognized for seven areas of excellence and 15 best practices, including management commitment, employee involvement, and safety and health training.

Vince Dailey, President of Koch-Glitsch, LP said, “The OSHA VPP Star certification demonstrates the commitment of our management and outstanding employees to world-class safety performance. We are equally committed to providing our customers with world-class performance in quality, innovative technology, on-time delivery, and rush and emergency deliveries.”
